How come there isn't newer versions coming out? I loved this game, I can remember hunting down a copy when my first one went bad. Does anyone know what the fate of this series was, um, or is?

There was an abomination of a sequel developed for the PSX - its development was so protracted & bad, that they dropped the "Rock and Roll" name from it...

I think that kind of put an end to the series...

I absolutely loved Rock and Roll Racing! I rented it so much for the SNES that I finally broke down and bought it. I played the hell out of it.
Who was your favorite racer? I was always Tarquin.
Damn I wish they would bring that to the GameCube. [IMG]

    Tarquin lights him up!
Man I loved the commentary in that game [IMG]. It kinda got a bit pointless around the hovercraft levels, but it was still fun [IMG]. My favorite character was Olaf from Lost Vikings. If you held the L & R buttons on the control pad while scrolling through the characters he'd eventually show up, and he was skilled at... everything! [IMG]
Lotta fun times playing that game. In fact, for those of you who don't know, Rock 'n Roll Racing was developed by Silicon & Synapse. Although they didn't really become big name game developers until they changed their name to Blizzard [IMG].
I love video game history [IMG]

I had this game. Loved it. I don't remember which character I took, but I remember listening to "Paranoid" while racing, thru the awesome power of the SNES sound chip. What other songs were on this? Paranoid is all I can remember off the top of my head.

The actual sound was really good when it came to the songs themselves. I was impressed. The basically filled in the lyric areas with MIDI impressions of the vocal tracks.

I remember Olaf, but I didn't use him very much. I don't know why.
