What would happen if you took a 20-39 and added an Ultra driver?

Put the driver thats in the Ultra in it?? And the top ports as well, and gave it some more power? I'm assuming the Ultra's build is stiffer and sturdier but wouldnt the regular 20-39 stand up well to the pressure? Would the tuning be the same as the Ultra? What exactly would happen? Play lower, louder, or both?

Didn't Tom bust one of their "normal" enclosures while experimenting with the Ultra driver?

I have no idea. That must have been incredible. It also sparks the upgrade toolman hormone level in me to start pumping fluid all over my brain saying,|spooky voice| "Get the Ultra, you can break enclosures with it!"|spooky voice|. I havent even listened to my 20-39cs and I'm already savin for an ultra. God, the upgrade bug is in full control.

If you have seen Scanners I wouldn't try it.

As I recall, the endcap is the weak point that would give out on the "standard" enclosure. However, the entire Ultra sub is now made of a thicker, stronger material than the standard CS line. I don't think the ports are interchangable between the Ultra/CS either.
On a sidenote: Why do so many people call Tom Tod or Todd? Maybe some kind of weird psychological blending--Tom + Vod = Todd? [IMG]

The ultra uses a similar driver to the Mass by Audiomobile, and the ordinary sonosub could indeed handle this driver, but as other's said the endcap could pose problems. However "knowing" Tom's over engeniering habits,I bet he and Ron probably built the original CS line that it could handle more force then the regular driver can produce.
    Just a thought!

Actually, I just noticed that I call him "Tod". I think what it is , is that my brain see's the Tom Vod part and just connects the o's or something. Dunno. So Tom are all of the new enclosures this new standard thickness or something? I just got my 20-39 yesterday, does that mean I have one with the new type of enclosure and endcap??

If there weren't already a number of responses to your post I would have deleted it outright - in the future please refrain from using teaser headers. You limit the number of possible responses as many members simply ignore them.
    Thanks.

Sorry about that, I guess I'll have to become more used to the rules here. They differ from other boards, which i think is a good thing. It seems much more orderly here than other places. Thanks for not flaming me, only correcting me.
