We all have them, a list of TV shows and movies you'd purchase in a heartbeat if they come out on DVD. Here's my list of the three biggest "Grail Shows" I have on DVD, along with a few I'll purchase IMMEDIATELY if they come out on DVD ("If is good!").
3. Ripcord. I fell in love with this show after seeing an episode posted on youtube. Figuring it was too obscure to ever get a release I turned to an "alternate source" to get this show. Then low and behold, an official release HAPPENED! I was more than happy to purchase the official release (and give the 'boots THE BOOT). You can imagine my surprise when I found out the second season was filmed IN COLOR.
.
2A and 2B. The "Bionic Series" (That's The Six Million Dollar Man and the original The Bionic Woman for those of you in Rio Linda!). Tied up in "Rights Issues" for a number of years these shows FINALLY got releases after Disney's 2010 version of TBW crashed and burned in the ratings. The following Christmas both shows were MINE!
Number ONE Thunderbirds. Shortly after getting my first DVD movie (Spiderman for the record), I read an article in the newspaper that made me react in a way that EVERYBODY in the cul-de-sac heard, even if they were indoors. This show had a place in my heart, because it was the first science-fiction show I ever saw back in 1965. Needless I just HAD to get it, and on the morning the 'T-Birds was made available there I was at Best Buy. A stock person was placing copies on the shelf and I snatched one right out of his hand. On the day after Christmas I was back at Best Buy, this time to "relieve" them of three other "Supermarionation" shows, Captian Scarlett and the Mysterions, Joe 90 and Fireball XL-5. (I got Supercar and Stingray along with UFO & Space: 1999 at a later date). I like them as much today as I did back then (That's ANOTHER thing I like about this hobby, reliving your childhood!)
And now the two "Grails" I covet the most, the animated series Hot Wheels and Skyhawks. Heaven help you if these ever get a release, you'll hear me loud and clear if you are on a boat in the Indian Ocean.
