Joseph DeMartino posted in another thread that Warner is looking into doing more tv shows on dvd. Just curious as to what shows they own the rights for? Here is what I know:

-Babylon 5 (oh please release this!)

-Seinfeld

-ER

-The Flash

-Batman/Superman animated shows (which are starting to come out)

Umm, well, there's absolutely no chance they would release it on DVD, but I really like the game show Street Smarts. It's fun, it's rewatchable, and WB would be crazy to do it! I can hope though. I'd love to have the episode with Jenny from Canada on DVD. ;)

All Hanna Barbera pull the mask off, cartoon mysteries.

IIRC: Dukes of Hazzard

Wonder Woman

The Flash

The A*Team

ER

Growing Pains

That's all I can think of now.

I think they got MGM's TV output pre-1986 in the Turner buy-out (note: this doesn't include MGM shows that were still in production. While "Fame" the movie is owned by Warner, the TV show is still owned by MGM because it went off the air in '87. Go figure!).

What shows these were? Can't help you, man.

Sincerely,

John "Um, Universal owns 'The A-Team'" Kilduff

Witchblade

Batman Beyond

Cats & Dogs

The God & Devil Show

Various versions of Superman

7th Heaven

Brimstone

Family Matters

Jesse

Jack & Jill

Living Single

Murphy Brown

Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher

Norm

Step by Step

Suddenly Susan

The Brian Benben Show

The Fugitive

The Jamie Foxx Show

The Parent 'Hood

The Wayans Bros.

Thieves

Third Watch

They also own the United Artists Television (which is how Turner obtained the 1934-August 1948 Color WB cartoons and also all the 1933-1957 Popeye cartoons) libary.

Gilligan's Island is part of that package.

Of pre-1990s shows I can think of off the top of my head they own:

ALF (independently produced, but Warner bought syndication rights)

Mama's Family (same as above)

Night Court

Alice (and short-lived spinoff)

77 Sunset Strip

Perfect Strangers (Lorimar production)

The Waltons (Lorimar)

Apple's Way (Lorimar)

One of the two best science-fiction programs ever made, "Max Headroom"... I think.
The best, IMHO.
Even just the merest possibility of this is making me drool. Since there were only 14 (I think) episodes made, they could all get put onto a 4-disc set. Plus another disc for the original pilot (weren't there separate American and British versions?) I would be one very very happy fan!
Besides as a 14-year-old, I had a serious crush on Theora. Mmmmm, Amanda Pays....

And thanks to the magic of video (and her career apparently dead-ending after "The Flash"), she never gets older. :) Mmmm...
And I only said "one of the two best" because I wouldn't want to have to choose between it and "StarCops". But "Max Headroom" was so far ahead of its time 15 years ago that I don't think SF on TV has caught up yet.

They own the Lorimar shows huh? My wife would do the serious happy dance if they released Knot's Landing on dvd.

Thanks for reminding me about that short lived show "Vengeance Unlimited". It starred Michael Madsen and was great.

I would think that ER would be a no-brainer for the next series after Friends to be released. After all, it's already been released overseas (Japan), in anamorphic widescreen no less, and it's been the number one show in the US several times during it's run.

Warner Brothers does NOT own the United Artists TV library.

MGM does. Titles like OUTER LIMITS and THE PATTY DUKE SHOW were released on laser disc by MGM UA. The only UA show that went with Turner was GILLIGAN'S ISLAND.

Warner also owns a lot of classic TV such as THE F.B.I., SURFSIDE 6, 77 SUNSET STRIP, THE ROARING TWENTIES, F-TROOP,CHEYENNE, MAVERICK, SUGARFOOT, etc.
