didnt know if i should post this here or after hours...

so if a mod wants to move it....feel free..

i have a few cd's that need cleaned off...and i wasnt sure if there was a way you could do it without buying like cd wipes at the store or a cleaner...

is there a way to just use products around the house??

    just curious.

    thanks

i've always used 20 grit sandpaper...takes that annoying shine right off! i bought one of those cleaner kits years ago and the solution that was including smelled just like ispropyl alcohol that you can buy at wal-mart for like 80 cents. usually that's what i use if my cd's become real dirty (which is rare). just find a nice soft lint free towel or rag to use.

Wash the CD in luke warm water and some dawn. That works. Don't harm the CD at all.

Ken is correct! Any liquid dish soap and warm water works great for cleaning off finger print grease or any other dirt.

i rarely have to clean my own cd's. if you keep them in the case or in the player, i just don't see how they can get dirty...of course i'm probably more anal than your average cd owner. [IMG]
anyway...i just use a soft clean cloth...no cleaning solution of any kind.
just make sure you wipe in a direct line from the center to the edge. don't wipe in a circle.

thanks guys for all the idea's....

i would have never though in a million years about puttting them in dish water with soap...i would have thought that have would have messed things up.

but anyhow....i was at class today...and i stopped in a sam goody and just got a cd/dvd cleaning kit thing..it has this paste stuff you put on...then wipe it off..and the liquid stuff...it repairs minor scratches too...so far it has worked very well.

but thanks again for all the suggestions.

    Alan
