I am in the process of putting together a home theater, it will be used 50/50 music and HT. My other half really wants a cd changer with at least 5 disks. I have an older Sony dvd player that will be updated soon. My question is, is it better to get a 5 disk cd changer, like the onkyo dx-c390 and a single disc dvd player or get something like the panasonic dvd-f87.

I do not want to spend a lot of money but I want it to be a system I can use for a while. Right now I don't have the urge for SACD or DVD-A but I know I will eventually but I thought that can be handled by the single disc DVD player.

What I am ultimately asking, will I loose pic/audio quality by going with a 5 disc dvd/cd changer as opposed to getting a player made for cd's and a player made for DVD's.

If there are any other suggestions please let me know, I would like to spend around 100-150 now. I can get the onkyo for under $80.

Thank you for all the insight everyone brings to this board.
Have a happy and safe new-year.

Kevin, why buy 2 units when you can do everything just as well with 1. Hometheaterhifi.com has ratings for DVD players and changers. It's the best site for this.
