yeah there are still plenty of classic titles that remain stashed in the vaults, but you still gotta admit it was a great year for catalog releases.
i know I wasn't expecting many of these to show up this time last year, and while there are still plenty of titles i hold out a small hope for in '04[although i've pretty much written off just about anything good from Universal pre-1980:frowning: ], at least i can ride out the rest of the winter with these;

A Little Romance
Mildred Pierce
Summer of Fear
The In-Laws
The Swimmer
Adventures Of Robin Hood
The Thing from Another World
Raiders Of The Lost Ark
and before the year is out, Darling , the Escape From NY SE, and what looks to be a spanky refurb of Alien
in fact, with the exception of the last three which i haven't seen yet, thankfully they all had fine a/v quality-sure you can ask for more, but that's really all it takes to make me happy.

and thats not to mention the catalog stuff i wasn't especially looking for, but turned out to be great blind buys anyway

so how many titles did you get to cross off your master wish-list in '03?

This was in many ways a great year for some classics! Here are the titles from my wish-list that I had been waiting and hoping for:

The Swimmer
The Crimson Pirate
Man's Favorite Sport?
Send Me No Flowers
The Thrill Of It All
Imitation Of Life
Giant
The Talk Of The Town
The Courtship Of Eddie's Father
Winchester '73
The Far Country
Bend Of The River
Pursued
Les Girls
Cover Girl
High Sierra
They Drive By Night
To Have And Have Not
Treasure Of The Sierra Madre
Adventures Of Robin Hood
The Thing (From Another World)
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Little House On The Prairie

Wow, that's a pretty long list! I hope next year is as good though, since my wish-list still has at least that many titles on it awaiting release!

Looney Toons
Adventures of Indiana Jones
Simpsons Season 3
King of the Hill, Futurama, and Family Guy seasons
Dick Van Dyke Show

and probably a few others I'm missing.

2004 is looking good as well, especially if Star Wars comes out.

Quite a few of my favorites made it to DVD this year. The INDY Trilogy, THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD and the Rathbone Sherlock Holmes films are titles I've been wanting since the dawn of DVD.

Well, since I'm sort of into cheesefests, I was happy to see not only Breakin' released this year, but also Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. As well as Beat Street, Claudine, Fame, Krush Groove and Popi.

A good list indeed, Greg M., but hello, West Side Story SE! I was so all over that when it came out back in April, and man, what a great experience with an HT setup.

On TCM a few months back, I saw the rarely shown final collaboration between Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen: It's Always Fair Weather. The plot gets ridiculous in the end, but what a great movie! I would be overjoyed if it got a nice anamorphic release, but who knows if that's going to happen anytime in the near (or not-so-near) future.

Hmmm, I hadn't realized that the previous non-SE release of West Side Story had the same transfer, so maybe it wasn't such an obvious candidate for Greg's list of musicals that arrived this year. Anyway, the SE documentary and scrapbook are fantastic.
