What should I look for in a light dimmer that will be in my ht room?

We are going to put two dimmer switches in our ht room, but I've heard they can cause some problems. So I have some questions:

What problems do the cause? Hum?

Do they only cause them when they are on, or all the time?
Can someone point me in the direction of some ht friendly light dimmers?

    Thanks,

    James

Yes, hum *may* be an issue, typically only when they're in the dimmer mode. However I have a dimmer switch in the same room as my HT equipment (edit: purchased at HomeDepot, brand unknown) and it doesn't cause any hum.

I think all you need is good quality connections and hum should not be a problem.

I have been using a Lutron Spacer dimmer for several years with no problems. The fact that you can dim the lights from the remote makes it a great choice.
