Most recently, The Ten Commandments [4K UHD], Mystery of the Wax Museum, Doctor X, King Kong (1976) and I have The Body Snatcher on its way from Amazon. I've slowed my buying due to (a) lack of space; and (b) saving pennies to build a Plex server so I can put my physical media in storage.

High Sierra in HD streaming does look better than the DVD and only a $5 purchase at Amazon.

I'll stick with my DVD of Captain Blood for the time being.

Do you have any other similar classic gems streaming in HD to recommend?
I bought on Amazon HD Digital.....Tokyo Joe, Black Legion, The Desperate Hours, Across the Pacific, Action in the North Atlantic, Battle Circus, They Drive By Night (SD) The Roaring Twenties, Invisible Stripes, The Return of Doctor X, San Quentin, Bullets or Ballots, All Through the Night, The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse, The Little Giant, Smart Money, G-Men, Taxi, City For Conquest, Northern Pursuit, and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde 1931 & 1941 (SD) These are some, I have More. All Recommended, all HD titles look Great. SD look Good but not as Sharp.

I already own many of the titles in the postings so far. I just received THE HAUNTING (Julie Harris) which sadly disappointed me. (I hadn't seen it before.) As a scary film it's not a patch on THE UNINVITED (1944).

And just out of curiosity and in the interest of this particular post. What is the cut off point to consider a movie a classic for this post?

that's why I had my reference to films from 1980, if we give the same recognition as they do with cars the number so roughly be about 25 years old, RogerEbert.com has it listed as 25-27 years, in other words one complete generation, and if it stands the test of time.

and strictly for information purposes, not every classic starts off as a classic

But 1980 is more than 40 years ago now.

I like to think of "classic" as an iconic movie (from any period). I myself would define iconic as any movie very highly rated by a majority of reputable reviewers.

I wouldn’t mine a recommendation for a classic b&w that has great cinematography and a transfer that will make me forget about color. I have Night of the Demon and 7 Days in May already. Is there a 4K b&w movie?

I added a few Chaplin films to my collection by way of Criterion’s sale last week-
City Lights
The Gold Rush
The Great Dictator

I’ve never seen any of these films, so I’m anxious to watch them, when I can find the time.
