psycho, austin powers 2 teaser
A Bug's Life
Monsters, Inc. "Charades" Trailer
Not only does it consist of footage shot for the trailer, it doesn't give away any of the movie. That's how trailers should be!
The Citizen Kane trailer was cool.
Apocalypse Now Redux
I actually found the trailer for X-Files: Fight the Future to be really good - it got me quite hyped up for the film.
TPM-that trailer so got me pumped up
Alien-very creepy for a trailer
Getting away from the big-budget blockbusters, one of the best trailers I ever saw was for the film In A Glass Cage.
Very creepy, containing not a single spoken word (other than a scream), quick cuts of mysterious-looking scenes and the entire thing was edited to the creepy music which was slowly building to a climax (the scream).
I still had no idea what the film was about...but couldn't wait to see the film = a successful trailer!
The trailer for the Director's Cut of Blade Runner and the 'flash' trailer for The Exorcist are also superb!
Along those same lines Bill check out the trailer for The City Of Lost Children
Another favorite is the trailer for The Birds
I really liked the teaser trailer for Magnolia
The "Batman" teaser for Scooby Doo was very well done. Along the same lines as Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me teaser.
I liked the Toys trailer although it totally misrepresented the film.
The Castaway teaser was a great example of how to do a trailer: show the audience just enough to get them hooked, but don't spoil anything past the first act. (On the other hand, the full length trailer for the film was a great example of how NOT to do a trailer.)
Unbreakable was great.
Psycho has already been mentioned.
Which Woody Allen trailer shows him working on the film in the editing room? That's a great one too. I think it's Sleeper or Annie Hall.
The "Elevator" teaser for The Shining...wow!
The trailer for Asses of Fire 2 which just aired last night is by far the greatest ever.
How could I forget the trailer for The Shining
did they actually make a full trailer for the shining or just that very scary teaser. anybody forget the spiderman wtc teaser. if you do a search in the home theater software forum, there is a link somewhere
If it's just the trailers, the Godzilla ('98 version) trailer and it's teasers really kicked ass.
I loved the Mission Impossible-themed trailer for Chicken Run. The Gladiator-themed one was great, also.
The trailer for Requiem For A Dream was a perfect example of a trailer allowing the viewer to experience the mood without spoiling the effect by giving away plot.
This would make a great tournament in my opinion.
Ryan, you're just itching to make this a tournament aren't ya?
I'm not Ryan.
You're right, Bill. You're Bill.
However, I know that Ryan will be reading this and that was addressed to him - the "Ryan," is a tip-off.
Maybe someone should make it a tourney before he does.
