Okay ... I remember seeing this movie quite a few years ago (10 years, maybe more) about an alien getting stranded on Earth. Before you guys start, it's not E.T. or Mac and Me [IMG]
All I remember is this alien was short, and I think he had big eyes. He was living with a family that was trying to keep him a secret. If I remember correctly, he dies at the end of the end of the movie. I think that someone shoots him, but I might be wrong. It's also possible that he wasn't stranded. Maybe he came to look around. I think he was going to leave in his own spaceship at the end.
Hmmmmm ... I know it's a long shot, but hopefully someone has some idea of what movie this was.
    Thanks in advance!

A long shot, but could it have been Aurora Encounter?
(Good grief, I'm surprised sometimes at the weird crap I find floating around my mind.)

It sounds like the low-budget 1986 film The Aurora Encounter in which the alien was played by a little boy who had that disease that rapidly ages you (can't remember the name).

Hmmmm .... You guys are gonna hate me for this. I'm not sure if that's the movie! :b

Looking up info about Aurora Encounter really brought back memories, but I'm 99.9% sure that the movie I'm trying to remember isn't a western. I'm pretty sure it's a 'modern day' story.

I remember a spaceship on a residential street, and the alien walking towards it at the end of the movie. I think that some guy comes (maybe the local idiot cop) and shoots the alien.

It's also possible that he does leave at the end, and doesn't die. Oh man, I really wish I could be more help here. Maybe I should work harder at blocking this movie completely out of my mind instead of trying to figure it out. I've been searching on IMDB all day.

Damnit... I think I've seen this movie too, but can't remember for my life what it's called. But maybe I'm remembering Mac and Me? Memory is a horribly unreliable thing.

Journey of Allen Strange? It's only 1997, though.
Wait.. that was a TV series.
    Or...
    Wavelength?
I actually remember this one... If I remember the spaceship looked like a big silver sphere. I don't remember any aliens getting shot, though.
Sorry, it's all I can find.

Wavelength ... hmmm, that sounds very familiar. It's possible that it's the movie I'm thinking of. Now to search for picture from the movie.

I really enjoyed Wavelength. I would love to see it on DVD. I have the LD, but the second half is rotted away and it's open matte so Mr. Boom Mike plays an important role in most scenes [IMG]
But I don't think that David's description matches Wavelength. In Wavelength an alien gets dissected, not shot [IMG]
