What laptop would you buy right now? (1 Viewer)

Reading the blogs, listening to the podcasts the past couple months has brought a lot of criticism towards the current laptop keyboards, and to a lesser extent, the confusing Apple lineup of the "Nothing", "Air" and "Pro".

And while I'm not seriously interested in buying a computer, I was daydreaming during some boring meetings about what laptop I could buy to get some things done on travel that I can't do on an iPad.

And right now, I have no idea what mac laptop is worth buying. My daydreamed guess is I'd think seriously about buying a Windows laptop for both price, features, and avoid the suspect Apple keyboard.

What's the laptop to buy these days? What do you think about the sturm and drang over the Apple laptop keyboards and laptop lineup in general?

Since my I bought my iMac last year, I have been thinking about selling my 2012 MacBook Pro 15" and getting something lighter for travel.

I couldn't bring myself to buy anything. Nothing seems that compelling. I was thinking about getting a Surface Pro for my mobile needs but that platform is due for an update as well so, for now, I am sticking with the old MBP.

One thing I did consider (am considering) is getting one of those travel cases for an iMac. I was looking at one from Tenba. My needs are such that hauling an iMac with me on a flight (checked) would work. Of course, at nearly $700 they are pricey. I might go to my local user group and see if there are any members that would be interested in sharing the cost and the bag. If that pans out, I may live without a laptop for awhile.

Have you considered an iPad pro and a Logitech Create? That's my travel laptop.

I work from home, mostly using Adobe's Creative Cloud for jobs that are printed. I don't really need to work while I am traveling, just once I get to my destination.

I do have a 10.5 iPad Pro. Although I don't use that for much work related stuff although it has come in useful for remote access on occasion.
