What is video up conversion? (1 Viewer)

As far as my cables go, I'm running all Monster video 3 cables. I know there are cables out there that are way better then the monster cable, signal cable comes to mind, but when I worked at BB part-time for the $90 monster cables I paid roughly $40 for them. I'd love to upgrade all my cables to signal cables but just can't justify the price increase right know. As far as the playstation goes, I'm using the monster component cables and just using the audio cables that come with it. That way I don't have audio cables just hanging there.
