What is the song playing during the opening titles of COLORS (1988)? (1 Viewer)

And who is the artist, and is the song available on a soundtrack album? Bits and pieces of lyrics that I could make out: "...about the places he had been to and the places he had seen..." and many repetitions of "...in America," which led me to believe that was the name of the song, but the final music credits list nothing that seems to match it. Thanks for any help.

"One Time, One Night" by Los Lobos. It was the lead-off track on their 1987 album By the Light of the Moon and is on a few of their best of collections, too. It must not have fit in with the rap + R&B theme of the soundtrack album and was not included.
