I posted this same question a while back and got no response. The only thing that I know is different is the hfx has a better sound system. I don't think there are any other differences.

There are a couple of other differences that some people may appreciate. I work for Cinema Series dealer are the points that I am aware of.....

-Better Sound Package: If your into that stuff on a tv, it has 13 watts more power (10 of that to the sub, more options for the simulated surround modes.
-Adjustable/Defeatable VSM- A lot of forum users like this feature
-Remote: Illuminated/Learning version with both audio and video controls

There are no real picture quality differences out of the box, but if the price is close....it's HFX is the better set

Thanks for the info David.

VSM can be turned off on the hf by going into movie mode. You might like the hfx if you want to adjust vsm, but I don't like a distorted picture and always turn it off. If you turn vsm off and already have seperate speakers, then you will only be paying for the upgraded remote.

One question for David Cohen:

Do you have any info on when the 34HF83 or 36HF73 will ship? Do you have any info on the specs of these models?
