what is the difference between compact flash 1 and 2 ?

    i have canon powershot g1. i need to buy a cf card, 256 mb.

    what is the best one? and do i need the type 2?

    I think the new CompactFlash 2 is the Ultra COmpactFlash cards. They are said to be faster getting an average data transfer rate of around 2.8mb/s, but I'm not too sure how fast the series 1 stuff is. It's alos a little more expensive.

    I thought type II was slightly thicker than type I. So your "slot" has to be type II compatible for a type II card to fit.
