    I guessing they should be installed as to push against each other as oppsoed to sticking together. So which way is correct?

    Push against (use glue/epoxy to keep them together).

    Does the bucking magnet have to be perfectly centered against the existing magnet for best/maximum results?

    They should be "balanced/centered" so the stray magnetic fields are "bucked" the same in all directions.
