I am very curious as to what this might be. I'd like a full story if possible.
I've been on Amazon and don't really know what would be good to get.
I have Neon Genesis Evangelion and really would like to know what is better or as good.
    Thanks!

Gotta go with the Macross saga (Robotech in the US) or Macross Plus OVA. Mmm...That's some good giant robot action.

I'd also say Gunbuster, but the Region 0 DVD has HORRENDOUS translation.

Gundam, it doesn't get much more classic
For many people 0083 is the first thing they watch, but if you want to start from the beginning it's the 3-movie Gundam Movie Box

There is no giant robot anime besides Evangelion, it is the BEST out there.

Macross (not the crappy Robotech version) and Macross Plus. They are the best in my opinion.

To be fair, Macross had approx 5x the running time as Plus, therefore had a lot more development time

Macross Zero has started out fantastically, it's a prequel to the original series, and features Roy Fokker (with Akira Kamiya, his original seiyuu doing it) (Focker is an engrish error that made it onto licensed products, it was always supposed to be Fokker. Due to their licensing agreement w/Harmony Gold AnimEigo was forced to use the bad one)

The only Gundam I've seen is Gundam Wing and I hated that, so I don't know how the earlier stuff is (I'm assuming it's MUCH better).

Anything Macross would be a good recommendation, except for Macross II.

Sounds like there is a ton of Robotech and Macross stuff.
How does it all link together or does it matter?

Robotech= SuperDimensional Fortress Macross (Macross Saga) Southern Cross (Masters Saga) and Geo Climber Mospeda (New Generation)

Super Dimensional Fortress Macross (1984)-Original Series

Macross II(1989??)- Piece of crap OVA sequel, removed from continuity by Shoji Kawamori as it was made without the original team, and doesn't reflect their vision.

Macross Flashback 2012- Music videos using the songs from the show. There IS some additional footage of Hikaru and Misa Hayase leaving on the same kind of colony ship seen in Macross 7

Macross Plus- Lovingly animated, wonderful OVA series, Think the recent Nova X-planes special witha a love triangle and big robots [IMG]

Macross 7- Some love it, great music, but frankly I consider it to also be a piece of shit. Features Max Genus as the captain of the colony ships sent out from Earth. The fighter pilots are all in bands, and use instruments to control their fighters and attack the enemy with music and song. The show is really really bad, but the music is really really good. For some reason it has a following. It will never be shown in the US because the music rights are about 4x the cost of the show.

Macross Zero- Just release prequel to the original series. Fantastic so far, but only 1 part is out. Features Roy Fokker.

    Jeff,
I may look into some of the earlier Gundam, where should I begin? Gundam 08th MS team (I think that's the title?) looked interesting.
I'm kinda lukewarm about Macross 7 but I'm glad I've seen it. Tough recommendation though.
