I am about to start a prewire for a 7.1 system and a forum member said to use "in wall rated" speaker wire. How is this different from regular speaker wire and where can it be had?

I dont need to use plenum cl2p, or fire rated wire on this job as none of it will be in an air chase.

Thank You,

scott

In-wall rated speaker wire willl have an extra jacket around it. This jacket is fire rated so that the speaker wire will not act like a fuse in case of a fire.

The larger hardware stores should have a fairly inexpensive in-wall speaker wire. The place I got mine had the same price as the regular stuff.

Paul.
