I have a Sony Wega XBR-800. On the back of the t.v there is a slot that says DVI. What does this do? Thanks.

    Hi [IMG]

    DVI is Digital Visual Interface.

It's a digital connection instead of an analouge one. Many computer video cards have a DVI out to which you can hook up a Flat screen monitor to them. It gives you a nicer picture. Removes the fuzzies and what have you. You can also output video from your computer to your TV (like games, movies what have you with that input as well).

Here is an article on it, hope it's helpful.

DVI on a TV and DVI from a PC are NOT the same! While the physical connection is the same the signals that are sent may be quite different. DVI-HDCP (copy-protected DVI) is what is found on some of the newest TVs and they won't always work with an input from a PC. Read your manuals to check compatability.

I don't recall anyone saying they were the same... Plus a link was given which also has about 10 other links going to PC and TV sites. [IMG]
