What is bi-wiring on speakers? (1 Viewer)

I am noticing that several speakers including the speakers that I have on order, have two sets of banana plug-ins. I think this is what they call "bi-wiring", but why are there 4 places to plug in your wires?

This is a seperate input for Hi and for Low signal (4 plugs: Hi+/Hi- and Low+/Low-).
