What is a CED player? Is the quality better than VHS or Laserdisc? (1 Viewer)

In my effort to buy a laserdisc player, I came across "CED" players.
Are these just regular VCD players or what?
What's the quality compared to?
Thanks,
Nathan

Someone who's been into home theater longer than I have can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think CED was before laserdisc and it was not a successful product. Don't buy a CED player unless you're into collecting antique consumer electronics flops.

Nathan,
CED (Videodisc) is a video format that died in the mid-late 80's. It's a really clunky technology, kind of like storing a movie on a record.
I've still got my parents old CED player. I bought some movies cheap on Ebay a while back and I plug it in every now and then when I get nostalgic. The first movie I ever rented from the video store was a Superman CED. :)
Check out CEDmagic.com for everything there is to know about CED's.
