What influences sound more, my pre pro or my amp?

I run a Ref50 pre, a Ref200.5, Ref200.2 amps. Does the pre pro influence the sound more or, is it the amp? Reason i ask is... thinking about changing my pre (eventually). If i bought an Integra pre for example, would the sound change or is it mostly in the amp?
I'm curious to see some comments. Thanks.

    1.Room/Speakers
    2.Pre-amp
    3.Amp

Of course, every component in the chain can have an effect, but that's the simple order, IMO. Obviously, the source component will have an effect too, but it depends on the configuration(analog or digital).

Are you unhappy with the B&K's performance or are there features the Integra has that the B&K lacks?

I would agree with David. First the Room, then the pre-amp, then the amplifier.

Yes, room & speakers first. I agree too.

If you're looking for an excuse for another pre/pro, also look at any features you might gain. [IMG]

If you're looking at the Integra vs the B&K, I personally think that's more of a sideways trade. (Although a buddy of mine really likes the two channel sound from the Integra.) Now, if you're looking at Integra Research... [IMG]

I was using Integra as an example because i used to have an Integra 6.2 receiver, then a B&K 307. The Integra was bright to my ears. There was a big difference. So, i guess changing out my pre would yield a bigger change.. I have no intention of changing my amps. Thanks.
