If I were to pick up a STB with OTA capability, what could I expect to see from my home in Maplewood, NJ (about 15 miles from Manhattan).

Also, what STB would everyone recommend?

Start with AntennaWeb. It will tell you which stations near you are broadcasting a digital signal and the type of antenna you need to pick it up. Second, AVS Forums has a local HDTV section. You can search by your home town and find people already getting HD via satellite, antenna and cable (if available).

That is like asking "What car would everyone recommend?". Do you want OTA only? OTA and satellite? Which satellite service are you looking at? Do you want cable HD also?
