Things I have learned from the Internet:

* The Japanese language (just starting)

* Without Ebay and alt.video.laserdiscs, I never would have had anything more than a meager LD collection.

* There is no "nit" so small that it can't be "picked".

* Re: porn. People are turned on by things I didn't even know I was disgusted by.

* Some people actually hate Return of the Jedi.

* If not for the efforts of Al Gore and other fine senators, the Internet might today be nothing more than a crude, government controlled, packet-switching network used by computer science enthusiasts at a few universities.

I've learned how to hard wire a roady XM unit into my car's wiring.

I've learned that I only have to pay sales tax on items I MUST have today !

In a former life, I learned how to get TV for free

But the 2 most important things I've learned are:

Most of the people who post their opinions on ANYTHING are nuts.

The mods of this forum are 100% correct in not allowing any politics or religion threads. People get crazy, they usually don't change the mind of those with a differing opinion, and it's a waste of valuable bandwidth !

A more pessimistic viewpoint:

The internet is the best way to spread misinformation on just about any subject or any person.

I've learned that car companies can't put their heads up their asses anymore and hope that problems just go away. The internet is a great place to bitch about cars and any other crappy product.

99.9% of the people on the internet of full of shit.

I learned that you can buy things to increase your breast size or stop smoking (why they send this to guys who don't smoke puzzles me), Nigeria banks need investors, and if it moves, someone will have sex with it, someone will setup a website, and people will pay for it. Trolls exist, everyone hates political correctness but constantly do it, many people at many websites won't browse and search but will repost a subject that's been asked/answered 1000's of times, and thru anonymity of the internet people would agree/disagree with subjects that would earn them ridicule if stated publically. Most of all the thing that I found out about myself is how much I'll visit a site that has no bearing in my life like reading a post here with a link attached.
