In many orginal release specs, the infamous Mercury Theater radio broadcast was to be included on the disc - what happened? It could easily have been supplemented with the PBS documentary.
Was there a rights issue? I thought the broadcast had fallen into public domain.
I'm glad I still have my CD of the broadcast - I almost got rid of it anticipating that it would be on the disc.

It was never intended to be on there. The original press release and various interpretations of it were a bit misleading. After analyzing the exact words it became apparent that it would only be excerpts of this on a documentary or something like that.
Here is a previous thread I started about this back then:

    Not happy at all!! [IMG]
That was a VERY BIG incentive for me to buy the DVD as I don't like the film that much. I agree it was groundbreaking and technically still is, but the story left me cold and consequently I thought it was draging.
Now I'm not so sure I want it [IMG]
Keith, where did you get the CD of the broadcast and is it still available?

I'm sorry I don't have the link available right now, but I downloaded the broadcast off the internet a month or so ago and then burned it onto a CD. I did a google search for "War of the Worlds broadcast", I believe and link to it that way.

I stumbled across this site (http://www.unknown.nu/mercury/) and it has a bunch of Welle's radio work. I cant recall what the quality of the recordings were like unfortunately. Cheers.
