I haven't heard anything about it in months. What's going on? Where is it?
My theory is that PTA burned all the printed film stock after Rob Schneider burst onto the set and managed to get into a shot shouting "You can do it!" [IMG]

    Is Sandler killing PTA's career?

Nobody but PT to blame for this one.

In all honesty PT Anderson hasn't had a real hit movie. Boogie Nights failed to live up to expectations when it was put into wide release and Magnolia wasn't a hit. My guess is PT Anderson hired Sandler to help him secure a bigger box office gross. Perhaps both these men have something to gain by working together.

While Thi Them already posted this news over at the Official Cannes Thread, I thought I'd place the links here for anyone interested.
Here is the latest info on PTA's site where you can find clips from Cannes.
The first coherent review is also pretty interesting. The first online review of Punchdrunk Love didn't say anything about the movie itself, but this one's a little clearer.

    Joseph, it's "Them." [IMG]
In today's L.A. Times, Kenneth Turan calls Punch-Drunk Love, "a romantic comedy as wonderful as it is strange that expands the genre to its absurdist outer limits and makes us believe."

Kenneth Turan gave a report from Cannes on NPR's Morning Edition today and again voiced his affection for Punch Drunk Love. I've never been an Adam Sandler fan, but Anderson is one of the few directors who will get me into the theater on opening week regardless. Should be interesting.

Good to hear that Mr. Turan is so enthusiastic about the film.

This is easily my most anticipated film of 2002 (no slouch consider the great releases this year still to come). I really admire PTA's work and look forward to see how his collaboration with Sandler works out. Hopefully Cannes will help push this film's promotion with an award or 2.

... to bad Mr. Deeds is coming out first to remind audiences about what crap Sandler is capable of.... though soon to be redeemed in Punch-Drunk Love, hopefully!

I finally got around to reading that L.A. Times article from Kenneth Turan. He says:
