What happened to Blackhawk Films?

    On the backs of the Image DVD Chaplin collections & Cartoons That Time Forgot collection there is a statement that reads: From the Blackhawk Films collection. There is no website for them and they don't seem to be selling videos any more. Do they exist as just an entity that licenses their holdings? If so, they have a lot of great stuff. Anyone remember the Stan Laurel short film "Man About Town"? Blackhawk released it as a special offer back in the mid 70's on Super 8mm. This and many others would be great to have on DVD.

    Yes that's David Shepard's company and I believe he bought up all the Blackhawk Films collection. Almost all the silents released by Image Entertainment were once part of that collection ; loads of important silent shorts and features now in the public domain : most of the companies that produced them went out of business years ago.
