I have one of Sony’s budget projectors (vpl-cx1) and was wondering what exactly the 16x9 mode does to the projected image. I know that 16x9 dvd’s appear larger however is the image just being stretched or am I viewing an image with increased resolution and thus benefiting from anomorphic dvd’s.
    Thanx for any advice.

If the image is larger and being stretched then you need to setup your DVD player to output to a 16 X 9 TV. There should be no difference in the size of the image.

My dvd is set up for 16x9 as i have a ws tv too. The projected picture does not look stretched at all, it looks perfect however i am wondering what the 16x9 mode does as my projector is not a true '16x9' one as those cost in excess of £3000/$4000. Maybe it zooms the image who knows?
