A couple Fox titles I watched this week...

A Letter to Three Wives (1949) Mankiewicz
This was one of the Studio Classics VHS line. I think it is well suited to the same line in DVD.

Night and the City (1950) Dassin
A fine noir by the director of Rififi. Does Fox have enough titles to make a line of noir classics?

Easily. Fox probably made more film noir than any of the other "A" studios of that time (back in the 1940s, Universal, RKO and Columbia were considered "B" studios, with occasional prestige films). Here are some of Fox's noir (or noir-ish) films:

LAURA (1944, DVD release currently delayed)
PICKUP ON SOUTH STREET (1953, coming from Criterion in Feb '04)
LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN (1945)
NIGHTMARE ALLEY (1947)
KISS OF DEATH (1947)
MOONRISE (1942)
ROAD HOUSE (1948)
CRY OF THE CITY (1948)
WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS (1950)
SOMEWHERE IN THE NIGHT (1946)
THE STREET WITH NO NAME (1948)
THE LODGER (1944)
HANGOVER SQUARE (1945)
NO WAY OUT (1950)
MAN HUNT (1941)
THE HOUSE ON TELEGRAPH HILL (1951)
HOUSE OF STRANGERS (1949)
THIEVES' HIGHWAY (1949)
NIGHT & THE CITY (1950)
FOURTEEN HOURS (1951)
PANIC IN THE STREETS (1950)
WHIRLPOOL (1949)
BOOMERANG (1947)
INFERNO (1953)
THE HOUSE ON 92ND STREET (1945)
SLATTERY'S HURRICANE (1949)
SWAMP WATER (1941)
RAWHIDE (1951, noir western)
VIOLENT SATURDAY (1955)

FYI, The November 30th DVDFILE's Disc News page is indicating that Fox will be releasing Vanishing Point on February 3rd. Woo-hoo! One more off of the wish list. The other title mentioned in that blurb are: Nell, Crimes of the Heart, Dying Young, Down Periscope, Black Widow, The Good Son, and Raw Deal (Schwarzenneger).

BTW, Nice list of titles Pete, sure wish Fox would get on the ball with their noir lineup.

- Walter.

Highlander season 3,4,5,6 I know I will probably only see 3-4 but there is hope
Highlander is definately comeing. Check out Link Removed for more info...

You can currently order the rest of the seasons and get them before they are released to the general public, you also get your choice of a couple swords...Its like 525, for all 6 seasons and a sword. I already have the sword, and will wait for them to land at bestbuy or walmart....

These will be my favorite releases as well. :)

Don't know if theres any 70s car chase movie fans besides me, but in addition to DUEL, I would love to see VANISHING POINT and DIRTY MARY CRAZY LARRY. Also a reissue of the UNIVERSAL MONSTERS is a must!
According to DVD File, Vanishing Point is slated for a February 3rd release.
