I have been looking into DVD recording decks for a while, and I think Im about ready to buy. Anny suggestions on which model I should pick up? The one that has caught my eye is the Samsung DVD-R3000. It seems to be going for about $500. Any input on this or other models would be much appreciated.

I just purchased the Panasonic DMR-HS2. My local Best Buy had an open box unit and I talked them down to $780. I've only had it hooked up for about 24 hours but, so far, I love it! I never owned a Tivo or Replay and the HS2 provides SOME of the features of those. I think it is a great marriage of a HDD (PVR) unit with a DVD-R/DVD-RAM recorder.

I will be using it mainly to archive VHS recordings. I have a Dish with PVR, so occasionally I might dump some programs off PVR to DVD.
