I see this in various posts and have no idea what IIRC means. Anyone know?

    Thanks

IIRC, it means "if I remember correctly".

When I see IIRC in a message posting, I will substitute it for one of the following:

    I'll insert rational commentary
    Invisible images really confound
    insipid interrogatories rarely count
    Insert idiotic rambling criticisms

or the obvious: "I IRC" in which the writer is proclaiming their use of Internet Relay Chat.

Yes, I have too much time on my hands.

Right I knew more or less the purpose(I thought as you do) but I've never been able to find a proper explanation as to what (sic) stands for, if it does stand for anything, or what it means. It's not even in that acronym dictionary the guy posted above

That's because (sic) is not an acronym. Go figure. [IMG]

I was hoping this would be a mirror thread to the Silica thread with tons of responses like:

If I recall correctly, IIRC means "If I recall correctly"

    Actually -

    Sic-
    latin:"sic" which means (thus).

    Uses of Latin Abbreviations

As in, "sic transit gloria mundi" - thus passes the glory of the world.

    ESL (Erstwhile Student of Latin)

    YMMV
