My cat has fleas. Are there any good home remedies?
Perhaps the good vet will answer, but I’d take him (her) to the vet for a flea bath. They can sell you a magic potion, where a few drops go on the back of the neck—this will keep fleas off for quite a while and is repeatable. But it is nothing is so good as a flea bath for getting rid of existing fleas.
Perhaps it is just me, but I have no desire to try to give cats a bath on my own.
Yes. Use Frontline or Advantage. Any of the other flea products you buy in stores is crap and won't work well.
You can get either product through a Vet or through a good mail-order pet supply place. I always use Omaha Vaccine company. Just click on the Table of contents tab, then on Flea and Tick control products.
Another vote for Advantage or Frontline. I would not recommend any of the flea collars, they're just not that effective. You'll also see flea medicine in pet stores that's in little squeeze tubes which looks similar to Advantage or Frontline, however it's not the same stuff. Stick with Frontline/Advantage, within a day or so all of the fleas will be gone. It works for about a month.
My guys use Advantage, and so do most of my neighbors. It basically gets rid of all the fleas in the neighborhood so re-treatment is only required a few times a year.
Me either. The fur always gets stuck on my tongue.
I'd advise also spraying the yard and house (and shampoo afterwards) to minimise a reoccurance.
DO NOT USE HARTZ! I'ts killing cats. Check out www.hartzvictims.org
