Ok, I am about to put together a HTPC. I want to know what YOU suggest I do with what I already have. I have read and read but I am wanting opinions. I currently have:

Pentium III 500 mhz (Intel 440BX/DX/ZX Chipset)
256MB Ram
15GB Harddrive
6GB Harddrive
Toshiba DVD/CD Rom
3DFX Voodoo 3000 w/ TV out
Aureal Vortex 3D Sound Card
Win XP Pro (also have Win 2000)
HP CDRW

I'd look at a new video card for sure, but I don't know about soundcards to help on that.

Otherwise it's good for a HTPC.

How quiet are the HDs .... what about the powersupply?

How much are you looking to spend? You can get a very sweet HTPC package for well under $700.

Get an ATI card. They have perhaps the best visual quality other than Matrox cards.
