Found what appears to be a good deal? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/544012176/jamo-s606hcs3?s_c=site_search
Jamo has dumped a lot of speaker packages on the market over the last couple of years. Like with most consumer-level brands, some are good, some not so good. That does look like a decent deal. But so does this package from Fluance even though the Jamo's have an 8" side mount woofer. But the Fluance towers are 10 lbs heavier.. http://www.fluance.com/fluan5speaks.html My brother bought the Jamo 413 HCS 5 surround sound speaker package (4 small bookshelves, a center and an 8" 200 watt sub) for $199 and it was very capable for movies/tv in his nephews bedroom but I thought it was lacking a bit for music. The sub looked/felt like a toy but it actually performed fairly well too. That's my experience with Jamo. The reviews are also very good. And they do make some very good higher-end speakers as well. Just keep your expectations reasonable. You can probably piece together a comparable Polk Monitor package from Newegg.com. Well, maybe $50-$75 more. I'd wouldn't get any of their subs. You can do better from Amazon (BIC) or PartsExpress.com (Dayton, BIC, Allison). EDIT: also checkout these from Pioneer. Towers, surrounds and a center for $379-$429. They're all the rage on internet forums. I've never heard them myself though. They are available at Amazon, BestBuy and Pioneer directly http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Speakers/Home+Theater+Speakers
