Most are minor issue but others issues are simply left to the 2003-Model.
I own a Onkyo TX-DS898, it's great receiver for the price (1200.00 at CC), sound and features are great, but what was
Onkyo thinking (If they, Onkyo wanted to sell more TX-DS898 Msrp 1500.00 receivers than the TX-DS797 Msrp 1000.00 TX-DS797....... They should of added the following features:
1. Some kind of lighting within the front panel door
2. For 500.00 extra we learn you not only removed
the "late-night" button but the Spkr a & B buttons
on the remote-control do nothing/mute.....
These two buttons would of been perfect for the
"Late-Night" and "Front-Effect" switching.
3. Component Video Conversion(Although the S-Video
with Composite Conversion(Video) looks good)
4. THD of around .05% would make 2-Chl stereo super.
5/6. No DVD A/V/S Loop or built in HDCD-Decoder.
7. LFE/Bass Mngmt(adjustment)of Non-THX-soundflds
8. $500.00-800.00Msrp (but not in Canada) for the
Pronto/CHAD and acessories.
Come on...with a 500.00 diference in MSRP (DS898 vs DS797)
My $1200.00,TX-DS898 with a 5-yr warr from a Authz B&M Dealer, It is a performer but not for $1500.00 msrp.......? (.

I still say my 100 watt per channel Onkyo 696 doesn't have as much power as my old 80 watt per channel Onkyo Pro 7. Still love it for the sound it does put out though.

Wish my Denon avr-3300 had a B speaker switch for the mains. My outdoor speakers are hooked to the B surround output, and while this setup does work, I have to bring up the on-screen menu to turn them on. It's a pain for me and impossible for anyone else in my house to use.
