I always wonder if the games that look kiddie are gonna be lame or a helluva lotta fun. I mean, the Simpsons looks kiddie cause it’s a cartoon,
but everyone knows it’s a good show. Are there any games out there that look kiddie but are actually really cool?
I think these are cool:
Animal Crossing
Munch’s Oddysee
I-Ninja -(not out yet, but it looks pretty cool. C’mon now, who can beat fingertip push-ups!)

I'd post links to these games, but I guess I haven't posted enough times yet.

I was vehemently against the cell shading but after I saw more of it in motion i released how cool it looked. My problem with the game ended up not being it's kiddines, but rather the repetition while finding the triforce pieces in the ocean

I really liked "Global Gladiators" for the Genesis. I don't remember how old I was when I first played it, but I believe I was in 9th or 10th grade.

You know, Dave, I can't tell you the number of people I know, including myself who either stopped playing the game at that point or were basically just really bored by the whole exercise. I never got around to finishing the game before selling it off for some decent coin. I don't feel that bad, coz I can still go back and play the IMO superior Zelda OOT. That still ranks as my all-time favorite freebie with a game.

Super Monkey Ball!

I was almost embarassed to buy the game it looked so ridiculously ludicrous like those wacky Japanese game shows. I formulated excuses in case someone hounded me on the way to the register ("It's for my kid of course. He's got great hand-eye coordination... for a 1 year old."). I kept it wrapped in the Best Buy bag on the way to my car like it was a porno DVD or something.

Once I opened it, my embarrassment was replaced by pure gaming ecstasy. Immaculate graphics, tight controls, monkeys in balls... it had everything! The single-player modes are great fun but the multi-player modes (particularly the monkey fights) are probably the best example of easy-to-pick-up hard-to-put-down gaming EVER. Even my wife, who plays the occasional video game but isn't particularly good at them, can pick up Super Monkey Ball and clean house (it's probably the only time she cleans the house too! [rim shot sound effect]).

Jak and Daxter looked like a kid's game, but actually turned out a little darker than I though. The sequel is supposed to be even more so.

Other games: Mark of Kri, pretty much any Zelda game, the TMNT arcade game, and Snood for the PC (programmed by my Geology prof!).

Whew Jesse, Mark of Kri a kid's game? I'd hate to mess with your kids :D

Mark of Kri is a totally sweet game though, one of the most underrated in the latest generation of PS2 titles.

Another vote for Toy Commander. Man, I wish they'd make a sequel on XBOX.

My first impression of FFT Advance was that it was really "kiddie", but as I've played it, I really dig it.

Kingdom Hearts for PS2. Hell it was pratically a Disney game, but ranks as one of the best RPG's I have played in years.

Joe: Well, it was produced by Don Bluth (the animator), and it certainly looked like a kid's game in the previews. I'm not saying it is one.

My kids are theoretical for several years (I hope), so I don't have to worry about messing 'em up. :D

Mario Kart. I used to have tons of battles with my bud on this game. Every visit to his house usually included some best of three battle.

BTW, I still am and always will be the king of the green shell backwards shot.:D

Add me to the list of people who never finished Wind Waker. I got tired of the tedius crap they threw in to lengthen a short game. The fact that I hated the look, as well as the patronizing tone of the whole game, gave me less incentive to continue playing.

"Don't cry little girl, your brother has to do BIG GROWN UP THINGS like fighting the next boss".

Super Monkey Ball is a game I liked quite a bit. I think monkeys appeal to all ages, and it almost seemed like there was a bit of innuendo thrown in as well(or it might be my dirty mind).
