I thought his character was deftly played and richly drawn out. Damon has always been a bit wooden and forward in his acting and this role accentuated that and utilized it well. His voice-over narration was superbly done.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I hate Matt Damon, but thoroughly enjoyed the film. The supporting cast is superb, especially Claire Danes and Danny DeVito. This is by far the best of the Grisham novels to be translated to the big screen.
I like Matt Damon, but thoroughly hated the film.
Honestly, it was the first time I had seen Damon, and I was genuinely impressed by his performance, as I have been by each of his performances since. I'm usually pretty apathetic about Hollywood actors, but, for whatever reason, I like him. He's a very natural actor.
Not bad, in a kinda really average forgettable way!
Darren H and Michael*K put into words exactly the way I feel. This is the only decent performance from Matt Damon who is otherwise a block of wood. He portrayed a very good rookie attorney who at times was in over his head. He and Danny DeVito had good chemistry.
Other than this film, Matt Damon sucks.
"...Other than this film, Matt Damon sucks."
...Yup! ... and he weeps all the way to the bank, too!...
. . . . . .
