While looking on the Internet for my current model 3808CI, I was not able to find an online retailer with such a model; and thus, I thought if mine gets damaged during transit, I will need to replace it with a similar model. So Where do I go to buy a replacement? Thanks for your comments.schan1269 said:Right now...believe it or not...the 3808 is "still current"....blame... 1. The earthquake/tsunami 2. Denon giving up "mid high-end" to Onkyo/Integra (once you hit $1000, Denon/Marantz is irrelevant...at the moment) 3. The current "market death" in the $1500/$2500 range...(Elite and Yamaha have retreated "cheaper" as well. Add Marantz as "nothing more than a Denon in a dress"...meant figuratively and literally) Help is on the way in the 4520(whenever it is released in the US)
Thank you. I guess for what you said that the 3808CI is better than either the 4310 and/or 4311. Then, I hope my receiver does not get damaged on transit so that I can still use it.schan1269 said:Oh yeah...there is the 4310/4311. Neither of which is anywhere(realistically) near the 3808. The 3808 has a near 1 AMP advantage in how much it pulls off the wall compared to the 4310/11. Edit: The 4310 pulls 8.2 amp(close to 1000 watts) The 3808 pulls 864. The 4311 pulls 780 watts. So, unless you need 1.4...wait for the 4520.
Which is why I said wait for the 4520. The 38/4308 are Monsters of the Midway, the 4310/11 are merely sideshows...gene c said:I would think the 3312/3313 would be close enough. Amp sections have generally been down-graded as more and more features are added with pricing remaining about the same.
So it seems that if my 3808CI gets damaged, then I should wait for the 4520. Is this a 4520CI model? By the way, I will only need to replace my 3808CI if and only if it get damaged on transit, but I will do my best to pack it on its original box and then on a bigger box to minimize damage by cradling it with some other stuff like pillows and blankets. Anyhow, thanks for your comments.schan1269 said:Which is why I said wait for the 4520. The 38/4308 are Monsters of the Midway, the 4310/11 are merely sideshows...
I totally agree with replacing it with 3313CI if and only if I am so unlucky to get my current model damaged. Thanks.gene c said:This is just a 'what if' senario and I'm sure the 4520 will be a Monster of the Midway, but if his 3808 is damaged I think the 4311 would be an adequate replacement, and unless he really does need a beefy amp section then I bet he would be fairly happy with the 3313 in it's place. Remember, most people buy way more receiver then they actually need. But of course, it's his decision.
