PAL speedup? All I can tell you is that we've been watching Val Lewton films, Laurel & Hardy shorts, Astaire/Rogers musicals, et al for 2 years and nobody's noticed PAL speedup yet.

Hey, if it doesn't bother you, fine. Lots of people never notice pan & scanning either. But when I watch Das Boot, and it ends 12 minutes earlier than it's supposed to, that's unacceptable to me.

The full 3 1/2 hour cut of DAS BOOT would end about 8 minutes sooner with PAL conversion, and personally, I excuse myself that long to pee over the course of a 3 1/2 hour movie. But if it doesn't bother you that you're missing a lot of great movies on DVD, fine. Lots of people think Laurel & Hardy only made two movies, THE FLYING DEUCES and UTOPIA.

Bowery Boys
The Thin Man series
The Saint/Falcon series
RKO Tarzans
Storm Warning
Knute Rockne, All American
Kings Row
Pipe Dream #1: The 1930's Perry Mason movies
Pipe Dream #2: The Warren William Signature Collection (Skyscraper Souls, Employees Entrance, Satan Met a Lady, Don't Bet on Blondes, Dragon Murder Case)

I would also mention the Charlie Chan/Moto films but that would require them being owned by a studio willing to actually release them.

I don't think anyone else mentioned these yet (and my apologies to those who have):

Shanks

The Legend of Lylah Clare

The Night of the Iguana

House of Dark Shadows

Night of Dark Shadows (restored 129 minute version)

Play It As It Lays (does this film ever turn up anywhere?)

Qui-Etes Vous, Polly Magoo?

Who Killed Teddy Bear?

George, You're my hero. Where are you when I'm arguing with people who tell me it doesn't exist or that I have dog ears for hearing it? :)

I suppose its a much needed form of therapy to be able to list what still has not made an appearance onto dvd just so one can vent some frustration over the matter. Seems that at this point in time we are chipping away at the tip of the iceberg to use an old phrase. So many have already been listed but here is a list of hopefuls:

McQ
The Naked Prey
A Thousand Clowns
A New Leaf
League Of Gentlemen
On Moonlight Bay
Operation Crossbow
Tunnel Of Love (58)
Secret War Of Harry Figg
Soldier Of Fortune (57)
Boston Strangler (68)
Soldier In The Rain (63)
The Incident (67)
A Big Hand For The Little Lady (66)
Ask Any Girl (59)
Five Fingers (52)
The Collector (65)
Some Came Running
The Tender Trap
Dead Ringer (64)
A face In The Crowd (57)
A Fine Madness (68)
The Great Imposter (60)
The Hanging Tree (59)
Harper (66)
Hot Spell (58)
Sweet Charity (69)
Sweet Bird Of Youth (62)
Sweet Smell Of Success (57)
This Sporting Life (63)
Time Without Pity (57)
Torch Song (53)
Woman Times Seven (67)
Witness For The Prosecution (57)
Victim (61)
Underworld USA (61)
Two Way Stretch (60)
Until They Sail (57)

Lili (53)
Love In The Afternoon
Make Mine Mink (60)
The Men (50)
Two For The Road (67)
Long Day's Journey Into The Night (62)
Ice Palace (60)
It Started With A Kiss (59)
The Killing (56)
The Plot Against Harry (69)
The Prize (63)
The Rain People (69)
Riot In Cell Block 11 (54)
The Quiller Memorandum (66)
Seven Thieves (60)
The Sterile Cukoo (69)
Summertime (55)
Susan Slept Here (54)
The Swan (56)
Pocket Money (72)
Yours, Mine , Ours (68)
Written On The Wind (56)
The Wrong Box (66)
Your A Big Boy Now (66)
The Young Philadelphians (59)
Windom's Way (57)
Suddenly (54)
Prime Cut (72)
Who's That Knocking At My Door? (68)
Forever Female (52)
Anderson Tapes (72)

That is a list of some of the films I keep - whether they all merit a release is debatable - I don't even know alot of them but almost anything half decent from the 50's through to the early '70's is acceptable to me - in light of what they churn out today in general there is no comparison.

Thanks everyone - guess I should have double checked those titles - I've had the list for awhile and none of the them rang a bell - don't know how I missed the release dates on those so I will be doing some searching!
