What Are These Retro Look VHS Blu Rays (1 Viewer)

A few are being released in 2019 . A way to add ugly covers to your blu ray collection or a way to sell less than great movies, though I am sure they have their fans. Is anyone nostalgic for VHS or rental stores?

A distributor called MVD has a complete line of titles called "The Rewind Collection" featuring artwork with rental stickers, etc., which has been very successful. Mostly C-grade action movies from the 80s and 90s that appeal to a certain age of collector.

There is a surprising nostalgia for the VHS rental days for a bunch of movie fans (though like the OP, I certainly don't miss them). However, as long as the transfers on these Blu-Rays don't actually look like VHS, then I don't have a problem with these kind of releases.

The first one I noticed was the Stranger Things packaging.

The only irksome about that particular packaging is that it is also the dimensions of a VHS case.

I do like these. The packing does conjure feelings of being fourteen again and going to the local video store to look for some B or C level schlock film to watch.

I do like the graphic design from the 1970's and early 1980's (somewhere around 1986 or 1987 is when things changed quite a bit), so the packaging on some of these blurays is great in my opinion.
