First, they sign A-rod to a contract where they were basically bidding against themselves. Then, their first move was to sign the nobody-loves-me Carl Everett and now they have signed John Rocker????

I don't think I would want Carl Everett the person on my team, but I would love to have Carl Everett the player on my team. As for Rocker, he's a pitcher, and Lord knows Texas needs pitching.

But they traded their best pitcher last year, Darren Oliver, for Everett. As an A's fan, I like their thinking.

WOW - talk about breaking up a clubhouse real quick.

Rocker and Everett - two major headcases. Everett, very

good ballplayer, definitely one who thinks the world

revolves around him. Proved this time and time again with

Boston, Mets and Houston. Do they really think they can

    change him now?

As far as Rocker, well that story is old. The Rangers

need pitching really bad but starting pitching.

This will definitely be a lot of fun to watch all the news

    that comes out of Arlington.

What the Rangers should do on day one of spring training is have a "Death Match" between Everett and Rocker. Just get it over with right away instead of having it go on all season. The team and baseball would be better off.
Every day with sports, there are new issues that arise that have nothing to do with sports. [IMG]

I dunno, maybe Carl and the Rockhead will kind of balance each other out. The Rangers should make them roommates and film their lives as an unlikely-buddy sitcom. "It's the Bigot and Bonehead Show!"

Glad to be rid of Everett. The guy's not simply an asshole, he's a sociopath.

I can only guess the Rangers are thinking that the dugout and bullpen are far enough apart to prevent some kinda asshole-meltdown synergy between Carl and Rocker, but we Red Sox fans know better. Carl will destroy any semblance of team unity. Even if he bats over 300, both ways, he will manage to hurt the team.

    Anybody need a new GM?

    Y E S ! ! !

We finally got rid of Carl... I kept thinking "who would be stupid enough to take him off of our hands?"

Then I saw that it was the Texas Rangers, and I was no longer puzzled or surprised.

    Have fun with Pay-Rod, Carl...

Pretty much everyone here in the DFW area is supprised and everyone else is. Needless to say it was discussed extensively at the office and on the radio yesterday. I'm sure people will still go to the games and watch the news just for the inevitable train-wreck of the Rangers... and everyone will want make sure they were there to see it. It's a f'd up place, man.

Maybe they figured it would be easier to draw a crowd with a soap-opera type atmosphere instead of fielding a winning team? That could be the ONLY reason to bring those two bafoons into your clubhouse.

The biggest problem with the Rangers is not that they traded their best pitcher. The biggest problem with the Rangers is that Darren Oliver (ERA=6.02) was their best pitcher!
Maybe they figured it would be easier to draw a crowd with a soap-opera type atmosphere instead of fielding a winning team?
Stay tuned. Based on recent history, I expect the Rangers to sign Albert Belle and Daryl Strawberry next. [IMG]
