I'm thinking about getting an LCD or DLP front projector and using a PC as a scaler, STB, DVD player, etc.
I guess I'll be running dScaler for "regular" TV and such, but what would I need to receive HDTV on my PC? And if my motherboard has an onboard S/PDIF i/o, do I still need a sound card?
    What else will I need?

A projector with DVI input matches perfectly with a graphics card with a DVI connetction. Radeons are the card of choice for DVD/HDTV output. You'll also need an HDTV card which run about $300. AVSforum has a rundown of the popular cards available now. The audio question is a good one, if an HDTV show has DD available will it pass through the spdif connection or not?
