Trying to start my car and finding a dead battery. Realizing that the problem is that my brake lights are always on. Taking the car to a place that wants to charge me a $100 diagnostic fee, even though the problem is simple and straightforward.

Completely understandable. I hate the crass commercialism of the holidays, and all the money everyone has to spend for gifts, travelling, etc. In fact, for years I was "Skipping Christmas" because I didn't want to deal with the hassle. However:

Agree with all of this. My parents are both in their upper 70's, and - unfortunately - we live halfway across the country from each other so it's tough to see each other at all. However, in the past several years I have made a point of seeing them at least 2-3 times a year, especially around the holidays. No one knows how much longer any of us are going to be around, so it's important to cherish these moments while they last.

The entire university of Miami (FL) football season. I could forgive the loss to Florida. However, they had Absolutely No business losing to North Carolina, Duke, Georgia Tech or FIU. Frankly, they should have beaten Virginia tech also.

I’m not going to call for the head coach to be fired. But they have serious work to do on offensive line and special teams

Security at work is a joke. Trying to get into the work iphone to check an e-mail. It's programmed to my fingerprint, but for some reason decided that it wanted my passcode this time. The same passcode I just changed recently and have since forgotten.

We have been married for 40 years and during that time have had just about every brand of washer and dryer. All have been crap. We started with cheap ones from Sears (Kenmore), and gradually built up to Maytag, which was a top brand at the time. These last ones caused us nothing but trouble, being repaired over and over. We junked those after about 5 years.
We decided to get inexpensive ones this time if they only lasted such a short time. We went with inexpensive Samsung.

Here it is l year and a half later, and we have had so much trouble with both machines under warranty that since the warranty is up, we are junking these! We had very noisy spin dry, cycles that no longer worked, and yesterday the last draw was a dryer that would not heat. It would have cost us 1/2 of the price of replacing it to get it repaired.

    Is everything garbage?

The fact that Amazon has changed "reviews" to "ratings"-- this is because you see a number of "ratings" at the top of a given item's page, only to find out that not all of those ratings are reviews (that is to say, that some simply left ratings for the product, and did not review it; case in point, VEI's all-in-one DVD of Riptide, which has 74 customer ratings, but only 51 reviews [me being the last one who left a review]). Why the disparity between the number of ratings and the number of reviews?

Have you tried Whirlpool models? I’ve had mine for 13 years now- not a minute’s trouble (just me at the house, and I only use the machines once a week- I’m a truck driver).

I also don't know of anyone who's had that much trouble with appliances. My parents both have washers/dryers in their homes well over 20 years old, with no issues. I think my mother had the heating element replaced in the dryer once years ago, but that's it.

What are you washing, rocks? :P

It's been 14 months since I remodeled my kitchen, and none of my Frigidaire and Whirlpool appliances have given me trouble.

Our Frigidaire washer and dryer are almost 16 years old and get used several times a week. So far, I’ve only had to replace the washer drive belt twice and the bearing on the back of the dryer drum once. All low cost and relatively easy to do.

I honestly think it's a bit of a crapshoot. We had a Maytag Washer that lasted us 24 years that we only got rid of just before we moved from North Bay Townhouse to London Apartment.

Dryers have been another matter. We had better luck with previously used dryers than the Kenmore that we got in '97 that conked out around '04. We had wanted to get a Maytag Dryer to go with our Washer, but none of the Appliance Stores in the city had them at the time.

Nowadays, it's the Washers and Dryers in the laundry room on our floor that we rely on for our laundry needs. Often times, at least one of the two dryers will be out of commission. We also do miss not having to put $$ on a laundry vending smartcard or waiting for an available machine. The joys of apartment living!

    CHEERS! :)

Lousy packaging we are now subject to I regard to our DVDs CDs and Bl-rays .
    Examples? :
Cardboard slots for storage of CDs - this abomination was also used for the Essential Laurel And Hardy DVD set .
TV series and movie set DVDs stored on a spindle.
Expensive sets like Lost In Space , The Monkees stored in tight cardboard slots that scratched the discs .

Yes the All About Eve Criterion is in hideous packaging that holds the BluRays too tightly
so there’s risk of damaging the disc by bending it while you’re trying to separate it from the spindle. I’ll have to perform a little surgery on the spindles so I can watch the film and supplements.

Sony's all-in-ones of What's Happening!! and Sanford & Son being very infamous for that, especially the former, which had just 9 discs, and a whole bunch of empty space.

when I got my cobra Kai season 1-2 set, I noticed it was on a stack spindle. I was really annoyed that it had been released like that

It has 4 total and all 20 eps with a good amount of bonus material.

Sony is famous for stacking. See the Dawson’s creek complete series as another example
