I am working on renovating my friends house. We are running speaker wires to 10 different speakers in the house (2 speakers in five rooms). Each speaker set will have a volume knob mounted in the room where the speakers are. My question is do they sell a 10 channel amp? Or would I have to purchase two 5 channel amps?

I am doing the same thing. I am planning on running a two channel amp and using a 6 room speaker selector.

    Bob,
Do you think that a two channel amp will be enough to drive all those speakers? I would think that you would not have enough wattage unless you are only listening to two speakers at a time. I would like to run more then one room at a time so I think I need an amp for each channel.
    Thanks for your input!

    Rich,
That sounds exactly like we would like to set up. I did not know that a 2 channel amp would be ok. What is the model of the xantech connecting block? I will have to look into the Impedance matching volume controls a little more. What volume control do you use?
Thanks a lot for your help

Crutchfield.com has a lot of good info and articles about this stuff. Check out this article:

I cannot remember the model of the connecting block, but I think you can find them on partsexpress.com. Partsexpress might not have xantech, but they should have at least a dayton model.

I have both Niles and SpeakerCraft volume controls. They both work well.
