We all know about "Grease", but what about "Grease 2"?
It's corny, but I like it.
Any word on "Grease 2" coming to DVD?

I would imagine that some of the issues holding up Grease are the same ones holding up Grease 2. True, the second one doesn't have the Olivia Newton-John lawsuit to contend with or "the Travolta factor" (that sly sumbitch apparently negotiated back-end and soundtrack deals on all his late-'70s hits).
But everything else about any Grease movie is heavily trademarked -- the name, the songs (yes, even "Reproduction"!), the back-end participation from the developers of the original Broadway musical. I could just be talking out of my a** (wouldn't be the first time [IMG]), but I would bet this stuff carries over to any Grease-related property. A link I posted recently on another Grease-related thread was a short news item about Lance Bass and the members of 'N Sync trying to develop (God help us) a modern remake of Grease with themselves as the T-Birds and Britney Spears as Sandy, and Bass basically said that they were probably going to give up on the idea because they'd have to make deals with so many different rights- and royalty-holders that it wouldn't be worth it.
Besides, why would Martin and his buddies at Paramount bust their butts to release the mega-cheesy G2 when the first is still in limbo? That'd be like Fox holding off on Rocky Horror until they were finished releasing Shock Treatment. [IMG]
