I've been thoroughly enjoying The Royle Family, which has been playing on BBC Canada. What a wonderfully refreshing comedy.
I would love to see this series on DVD. Any other fans clamouring for this one?

You all are forgetting about the greatest BBC show, The Young Ones, now if this were to come out in a three disc box set with the complete series like fawlty towers, i'd buy it in a minute.

there were three series of the Royle Family - 3x6 episodes plus Christmas Specials for 1999 and 2000.
Its officially unlikely that there will be anymore due to the (ahem) personal problems of Caroline Aherne. Nothing that laying off the fags and booze wouldnt solve!
Then again perhaps its best left at 3 series as it was becoming a caricature of itself.
What we really need is more Alan Patridge on DVD - the master of chat!
    Aha!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic show. I wasn't aware that it would end in the 3rd series. Oh well...

Are any other UK members wondering what would happen if, say, Bottom, Brass Eye or Jam were shown to American audiences? [IMG]

I would *love* to see the reaction to Brass Eye over here in the US. I showed the recent Brass Eye special to a co-worker, and strangely, they really didn't catch the humour of it... [IMG]

I can't comment on that one, but I can tell you that "French and Saunders" is coming to DVD. I worked on it here at work (post production for the DVD).

BrianB - Ah, the loveliness of Chris Morris. I actually contacted Criterion about releasing "Jam", as I thought it might be right up their street.
It's unsurprising that anyone from the US didn't find the Brass Eye Special funny - if you don't know the celebrities being hoaxed or news stories it's based on, then you're stranded without a laugh map.

    Brilliant stuff!

Caroline Ahern has been suffering from nervous exhaustion, which I think is a smokescreen for some alcohol related problems. She said that she was "retiring" from work for a while.
Re Brass Eye - a brilliant and biting satire on the media - we can only hope that C4 have the guts to commission one about the "war on terrorism".
Wonder what the US would make of recent editions of "Have I Got News For You" - I'm sure this would upset poor little Chelsea Clinton...

Anyone know if Rab C Nesbit has ever come out on DVD?
It's one show that really needs subtitles...but sort of fun to decipher
Someone 'borrowed' my Rab C Nesbit tape that I transfered to NTSC

No sign of any BBC DVDs of Rab as yet, although they are steadily building up their output - so maybe one day...

Is "Bottom" out on DVD in the UK? If so, that's probably the best reason yet for me to buy a region-free DVD-player...
I wish they'd release that and "The Young Ones" on R1 DVD, though...

Pretty sure that none of the TV episodes of Bottom have come out, but I think one of the live shows has just been released.
