Well Chad every action any President takes can have those ramifications. For example, the current war on Iraq—might have ramifications from an extreme group. The fact that the action was illegal was all the more reason to not speak with his wife.

If he had, she would be an accessory before the fact. And without any real or in practice protection of actually being the President or any other official.

Naturally she is grieving, but (imo) the writing is a cop-out.

But that was very public. Bartlet did something covert.

And Abby isn't shy of being involved as an accessory, like she was with his MS (now THAT was a cop-out storyline).

I'm not saying that she had a right to know, or that Barltlet had an obligation to tell her. She's not an elected official and pillow talk is not in the constitution.

But she FEELS betrayed. She FEELS she had a right to know. When analyzing character or writing character, it's not about what you would do, it's about what the character would do. And I think in this circumstance, she would act that way.
