Weird DVD-ROM behavior... question. (1 Viewer)

I think my DVD_ROM may be on the brink of self-destruction. This probably occured just as of this evening. I have a Toshiba DVD_ROM and a Sony CDRW burner. Both internal. I wanted to burn a CD. I opened the DVD_ROM drive and put in a disc and closed it. It waits a few seconds and then ejects the disc... It won't remain closed and read the disc. I turned off my PC and rebooted but the same thing happens. What the heck? Not sure what's gone wrong but it definitely has a mind of its own. Any ideas? Sorry if this seems a little vague, but honestly, this is what's happening...

Sounds like the clamping mechanism died
