The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain!
If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

The Specials

--This is what we call in the business: "a slow week."

--Best Buy has some Blu-ray titles listed for $19.99 this week: Gnomeo & Juliet, Tangled, Toy Story 3, Cars. All titles are listed as $14.99 DVDs (except Cars).

--The following TV on DVD titles are listed for $19.99 this week: Eureka: Season 4, Covert Affairs: S1, Warehouse 13: S2, Psych: S5, In Plain Sight: S3.

--Best Buy has the following Harry Potter titles listed for $12.99 on blu and $7.99 on DVD this week: Sorceror;s Stone, Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince. AND...when you buy these titles in their specially-marked packages...get up to $8 off on one admission ticket to see HP and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. In store only. In theaters 7-15-11.

--Best Buy Odds and Ends: None to report.

--Not a single new release is being advertised in this week's Target flyer. I'm guessing (hoping) that's because of a combination of it being the holiday weekend and no really big releases. It's worrisome, however, after the absence, last week, of the LotR Trilogy from their flyer.

--The following Blu-ray discs are listed for $19.99 this week at Target: Gnomeo & Juliet, Tron Legacy, Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure, Tangled. And select other Disney movies. Quantities limited, no rainchecks.

--Target Odds and Ends: A list of $4.75 DVDs.

I neglected to include in the OP that Wal-Mart has a number of exclusives (all at a very nice $10 pricepoint, I believe) due on July 5. They include:

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

When Harry Met Sally

Legally Blonde

Throw Momma from the Train

A Fish Called Wanda

Thanks, Mike.

Too bad there aren't any Walmarts in my neck of the woods or I'd drop by for a couple of their BD exclusives.

Will probably give Of Gods and Men a rent in the coming weeks.

Have a great day w/ The Family! ... and a great Fourth of July to follow!

What a totally crappy release week. Depending on how I feel, I may grab a catalogue title or two...but maybe not. I'm overflowing with "stuff" I haven't watched yet as it is. (And it's going to be a glorious summer, so who wants to stay inside?)

Yes, it is a slow one, but I won't be able to resist that Crack in the World, sight unseen. I'll have Mad World coming in the mail from Walmart. And I believe the B&N Criterion sale begins next week, so a bit of a break before my wallet gets blown to smithereens is not such a bad thing.

You know, I kind of welcome this break in purchasing. LoTR wiped me out, and I am spending quite a bit for this long holiday weekend. If I happen to be near a Wal Mart I will look for IAMMMW, but like Man, there aren't many near me.

I'll be picking up "Mad, Mad World" and "Honeymoon in Vegas". The only DVD I ever saw for "Honeymoon ..." was not only non- anamorphic, but MARed as well! So I'm hoping for a better presentation from the Blu-ray (with hopefully a nice DTS-HD MA audio presentation to showcase the "rocking" Elvis homages.

What's with "The Complete Gidget Collection" listed as a new release? I haven't heard anything about a reissue and your link goes to the same 2004 release of the pan-and-scan DVD collection.

Frankly, I'm not sure...except that it showed up on one of the new release lists I used to put the RoundUp together and there WAS a listing for a new release (July 5) at amazon when I was originally researching their prices for this week.

When I went to find a link for the price table last night, however, there was only the older listing. I decided to include it...figuring no harm, no foul. Didn't realize it was pan-and-scan.

Yeah, Gidget which was shot in CinemaScope is definitely pan-and-scan, while the other two were shot spherically and are probably open-matte on the DVD set. In any case none are OAR. There was a big brouhaha when it first came out.

I'm at a loss as to why there was a new listing (with the July 5th release date) on Amazon...only to then have it disappear.

I will pull the entire thing from this week's WRU...since it's a pan-and-scan release. It has been a long time since I've had to do that. Glad to see those days long gone.
